My oats story

Updated: May 17, 2020

I believe that all of you have tried a oats porridge once in a life. I also believe that not all of you love oats despite all the benefits we know about.

Same story here. I still remember my kindergarden trauma having oats porridge for breakfast every second day. I also sometimes experienced food which I didn't ate as a kid but after couple years became sort of a thing of mine. That didn't happen to the oats.

That's so weird when your whole family and friends and friends of friends include oats in their daily meals but you still can't figure out how to do that.

Most of you would definitely say: if you don't like them, don't eat them or just don't waste your time, but instead of that I tried to turn outs into something over and over again (I have to mention that there was a time when I was trying to eat healthy and I did that wrong as well). Even when I promised myself it's the last try I found myself in the kitchen... with oats.

I have to say that I don't like plain oats. I love oat cookies (you already know my cookie thing), the list also includes a granola and muesli, but I bet that's because of all sugars and other not so healthy stuff.

However, because of my all determined attempts to make oats into something eatable I discovered these oat baskets. And I have to admit I did that twice because my first try wasn't very successful. But my failure had nothing to do with the dough. My advice: If you want a perfect shape don't use those paper muffin baskets. It will also save you some nerves.

As my second attempt to make these baskets was successful I was relieved that they turned into something beautiful. I say that because a visual appearance is a very important part in my kitchen adventures. And most important - they were also eatable. That's a yumm! And a win - win!

And the greatest part. You will need only:

- 200 grams oats

- 1 banana

- pinch of cinnamon (for some sweetness you can add honey, I didn't do that).

As I was very excited about the outcome I decided to go all in for the healthy way so I filled them with Greek yoghurt. But that's up to you, next time I might go for some Philadelphia cheese or my favourite ice cream. No need to put them in a fridge. They will disappear very quickly! Enjoy!
